The Funeral Meals group seeks to extend hospitality to family and friends that have a funeral for their loved one at SonRise. When the need arises, the leader contacts group members and coordinates with each of them to provide dishes to create a complete meal at the church, or if the family desires, at another location. Expectations of group members include last minute notification, willingness to cook and bring a dish, and to serve the guests at the church after the funeral.

Meal Makers serves those facing a time of need by providing meals prepared and delivered by group members. Those with a new baby in the home, recovering from surgery, or facing a tragedy are examples of families that are recommended for our service. When a family in need is recommended, the coordinator communicates with the group members to schedule who can bring meals on designated days, and also to inform meal providers with food preferences and any allergies of the family.

The Ushers at Sunday morning services work with the Lobby Greeters to put forward a “sunny face” to the
congregation as they arrive at SonRise for worship. The role this group plays in the first impression of the church is essential.
Ushers may be called to serve in areas such as greeting people with a smile and handshake, opening doors to those in need of assistance, handing out bulletins, and answering general questions. Ushers also serve during the worship service by assisting the acolytes, collecting the offering, and handling any un-planned issues that may come up during the service.
There are four to five greeters and ushers per service. Ushers are asked to serve once a month; schedules are determined and posted at the beginning of the church year.
