Dave is a full time husband to Rhonda and full time dad to Taylor, age 10.  In July, 2006, Dave began  serving SonRise as their senior pastor.  It is his first appointment after graduating from Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, KY) in May, 2006.  Dave was ordained as an

Elder in the Rocky Mountain Conference during the 2009 Annual Conference.

Dave's call to ministry came later in life as he finished seminary at age 40.  He grew up in Seneca, KS and is a lifelong Methodist.  He met Rhonda at Bethany College, Lindsborg, KS where Dave got his BA in Social Studies Education.  Teaching was Dave's first calling!  He got his first job in Holly, CO. teaching and coaching in 1987.  Dave and Rhonda were married in the summer of 1988 and moved to Boulder, CO in summer of 1990.  Dave taught seventh grade social studies and coached various sports from 1990-1997 in Johnstown/Milliken, CO.  From 1997-2002, he taught seventh grade social studies at Monarch K-8 in Louisville, CO.  Dave earned his MA in Middle School Education in 1997 from University of Northern Colorado.  Dave and Rhonda lived in Broomfield, CO. from 1993 to 2002 and were members of the Broomfield UMC. 

Dave is passionate about helping people know the love of Christ and grow in their faith. The Walk to Emmaus retreat was a formational part of his ministry calling.  He is enthusiastic and relational in his preaching.  Dave has been described as warm, conversational and honest in his preaching style.  Leading a healthy, growing church like SonRise is the opportunity of a lifetime! 

Pastor Rhonda York is a Kansas farm-girl, growing up in WaKeeney, KS.  After graduating from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS in 1988, she married Pastor Dave and moved to Holly, CO.  While at Holly, Rhonda taught and coached in the Holly school district and served at the Holly UMC in music and as a youth leader.  Two years later, she and Dave moved to Boulder, CO in order for Rhonda to attend graduate school.  Getting her Master's in Vocal Performance and moving to Broomfield, CO, Rhonda sang professionally, taught private voice and piano lessons and Kindermusik, and directed the children's choir at Broomfield UMC.  After several years in Broomfield, the York family followed God's call to full-time ministry by moving to Wilmore, KY for Dave and Rhonda to attend Asbury Theological Seminary.  Rhonda graduated with her Master's in Christian Education in May of 2006 and was ordained as a deacon in the United Methodist Church in June of 2009.  She started at SonRise in October of 2006 as the Children's and Youth Pastor.
