Pastors & Staff

Rev. Carrie West

Head Pastor

Pastor Carrie came to SonRise Church in 2017 after serving in rural Colorado for 12 years.  She is married to Mike and birthed 3 beautiful daughters, Jordan, Shelby and Gracie.  Carrie grew up in the Presbyterian Church but found her true home in the United Methodist Church after multiple invitations by Mike's Grandma to attend church with her.  The teachings on Grace and Salvation by John Wesley (the founder of Methodism) were key to Carrie's acceptance of God's love and made her feel like she truly belonged with God and the church.  Through a transformative experience with a small group, Carrie heard the call to pastoral ministry as a vocation, and the rest is history.  Pastor Carrie loves working with youth and those who are new to faith.  She is a staunch social justice advocate and has a broken heart for those experiencing homelessness.  Our pastor wants everyone to know they are loved by God and have a purpose in life that will bring transformation to the world.
Carrie enjoys playing the piano, singing, putting together puzzles and watching TV shows like Downton Abbey, Grey's Anatomy, and Call the Midwife.  She hopes one day to travel to Italy or do a pulpit exchange in a foreign country. She would first need to learn a different language.

Rev. Lola West

Associate Pastor

Lola is a certified open water scuba diver.  She loves walking, listening to music, dancing, and going to the dog park with Princess, her 3 year-old shepherd mix, and being in hot water (visiting hot springs). Lola has 4 adult children and 8 exceptional grandchildren, with a great-grandchild expected soon! She lost her husband of 43 years, Ernie, in 2021. Lola loves children and youth, and works with both groups, along with Congregational Care. She also pastors Avondale UMC. Lola taught school for many years –  all ages, from preschool to college.  She is a second career pastor, with over 25 years of experience as a chaplain, which gave her a deep appreciation for many religions and spiritual practices.  She grew up in the United Methodist Church, and has been active in Church and Society and UMW for many years.  She is committed to Peace with Justice work, and helping the UMC to be more inclusive.

“God directs his people not simply to worship but to sing his praises ‘before the nations.’ We are called not simply to communicate the gospel to nonbelievers; we must also intentionally celebrate the gospel before them.”

Terri Cole

Financial  Secretary & Bookkeeper

Terri Cole is our Bookkeeper here at SonRise.  She'd held this position since 2016.  She is responsible for the weekly deposits, accounts payable, payroll, and the monthly financial reports. Terri's husband Patrick is her biggest supporter.  Her daughter Breanna is a homesteader in Bonanza, Oregon and her youngest Tawni lives in Westcliffe with her two children.  Terri retired from the Finance Department at the University of California in San Diego and moved to Pueblo in 2011 to be close to the daughter that was most likely to give her grandchildren :-)  Besides being a Grandma, she enjoys country music, NASCAR, NHRA drag racing, her garden, and playing games.  She was not raised a Methodist, but the local Methodist minister at her high school Baccalaureate ceremony stole the show with his style of preaching.  He was remembered when an officiant was needed a couple of months later for a family funeral.  She started attending that church and was so excited to see the Methodist cross and flame on SonRise's sign when moving to Pueblo West.
