Legacy Endowment Fund Financial Results for 2020:

The SonRise Legacy Endowment Fund market value at December 31, 2020 was $81,554, compared to the end of the prior year of $71,637. Market value is how much the investments are worth on a given date. Total return on the Legacy Fund investments for 2020 was an amazing 18.1% compared to the benchmark index return of 14.6%. The endowment fund increased $9,917 during 2020, mainly attributable to the appreciation of the investments. The funds are invested in a balanced fund consisting of stocks or equity of about 65% and fixed income investments such as bonds of about 35%. The investment funds are managed by investment professionals hired by the Methodist Helping Methodist Foundation (Formerly known as Mountain Sky United Methodist Foundation). Also worth noting is that investments are made in socially responsible companies. The Legacy Endowment Fund is funded by your donations. Annual distributions of 4% of assets are made in accordance with the Legacy Fund by-laws. Fifty-five percent of the annual distribution goes to missions and forty-five percent goes to the SonRise maintenance fund. The Legacy Endowment Fund Committee determines where to donate the funds for missions at its annual meeting.

In 2020, the Legacy Endowment Fund distributed $1,457 to missions ($1,200 to the Pueblo Rescue Mission and $257 to Kairos adult prison ministry) and $1,192 was transferred to the SonRise Major Maintenance Fund. Over the past 4 years a total of $9,865 has been distributed to missions and the major maintenance fund.

Below is a summary of the results for the year ended December 31, 2020:

EASTER DIAPER DRIVE: Our annual UMW Easter Diaper Drive for Los Pobres mission in Avondale will run through March and April. Any size diapers, and baby wipes, can be dropped off at the church lobby.

MIGRANT BAGS: UMW is again preparing migrant bags. Last year our church gave away ♥83 bags to the children of migrant workers! Each bag contains a bath towel, wash cloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, bar of soap, and a comb. There will be a table at the church where you can leave your donations. All donated items need to be at the church by May 12th. Thank you, SonRise, for your amazing generosity!

WILL YOU SEW? UMW has 48 migrant bags already sewn for 2021. We have 61 more bags cut out just waiting for someone to sew. It takes less than an hour to sew one. There will be a table at the church where you can pick up fabric (already cut to size), and a direction sheet explaining how to sew the bag. Sign out at the table the number of pieces of fabric you are taking home, along with your name and phone number. All bags need to be returned by May 12th. *You do not need to fill the completed bags with the listed items (it’s ok if you want to).* You do not need to put in the drawstring. We will fill the bags and do drawstrings at our May 13th meeting. Thank you for your help!

LOS POBRES DONATIONS: Flour, oil, toothpaste, shampoo, and bar soap donations for Los Pobres are always appreciated. Contact the church office or Gerald & Marcia Faust if you have any questions.
