SonRise Missions

Liberty Point International Middle School
(LPI)

In 2015, SonRise formed a community/school partnership with Liberty Point International Middle School, in Pueblo West. It is our goal to provide support and encouragement to the students, faculty, and staff. By working with LPI, we hope to bring shalom to Pueblo West.

Our partnership has included:

  • Community Tailgate Party for the School Year

  • Back to School Supplies Drive

  • Hoodie Drive

  • Providing snacks and/or lunches for teachers

Pueblo Cooperative Care

Pueblo Cooperative Care is a charitable organization that provides food and clothing to people of Pueblo County.  All non-perishable food is accepted.  Donation bins are provided in the church lobby. Pueblo Cooperative Care operates year round.

Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos Prison ministry supports the spiritual needs of incarcerated men, women, and youth, along with their families and correctional staff through a 3-1/2 day weekend inside the correctional facility, focused on building Christian community. Through talks, meditations, music, listening, and compassionate support, volunteers share the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Studies have shown that lives transformed through a Kairos weekend can reduce relapse into crime by as much as 50%. We pray that the Holy Spirit will touch the lives of the attendees with the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

The Blessing Box in the parking lot helps our community with opportunities to give and receive anonymously. The Blessing Box is available for all. Some need help. Some can give. Take what you need. Give what you can. It's a way to close the gap between earth and heaven where justice reigns. Thank you for your support.

El Centro de Los Pobres

Located in Avondale, CO, Los Pobres is a food and clothing distribution center for migrants. Los Pobres is directed by Sister Nancy Crafton. SonRise collects clothing, children's toys and school supplies, and household items that are in good condition.  Storage space is limited, so donations should be season-specific.  No electronic items are accepted.  Donation bins are located in the church lobby.

Spiritual Journey - Youth Offender System

SonRise Church supports prison ministry (Matthew 25:36) including the Youth Offender System (YOS) located in Pueblo. This prison is for young people (14-25) convicted of certain crimes and sentenced as adults, not juveniles. It is a middle tier sentencing option offering a structured rehabilitation program instead of traditional punishment. It is intended to prepare eligible young adults to reenter society while ensuring public safety.

The YOS Spiritual Journey Team is ecumenical with Christians of different faiths and denominations serving. The Team visits separately both the female and male offenders at YOS each month. Over time we get to know these young people. One of the team has a spiritual lesson to share with the young people each month and several times a year we bring in pre-approved snacks. One of the joys of the ministry is to pray over a young offender ready to leave YOS and begin a new life.

Thank you for your prayerful support.
